An ever-changing view

I love sitting on a train and watching the world go by. There’s nothing more self-indulgent than to watch life passing you by in a small glass window. It’s strange to think how big the world is, that there are millions of people on the planet living out their lives. When you are living your own life it’s hard to think about how others maybe living their own but from the comfort of a train seat you can sit back and observe others as you speed on by to your destination. You can wonder about what team won as you pass a rugby game and that they must be freezing their bits off in the cold. You can privately giggle at people’s fashion choices like fluorescent yellow tights with a bright pink top and wonder if they know that leggings shouldn’t be worn without something over them like a skirt.  It’s scenes like this that make my writers instinct go mad and can’t help myself but write things down for stories or poems. It’s creative inspiration at my fingertips and definitely helps when my writers block strikes.

It’s strange to think that this whole experience is available to us every day, busses, trains, cars, even outside our front window we can watch life happening. I’m not too sure as to why I find this fascinating, maybe I just like being nosey and looking at how others are living their lives, comparing it to my own.  But I always make sure I don’t watch my own life pass me by, life is far too short.
